Visitors
Visitors can browse the content of all the members' pages. Visitors can watch video clips, view images and listen to audio. In addition, visitors can inquire about licensing content. Visitors can not challenge content, comment on content or upload content.
To view a picture at its full size, click on it. If you click on it when it is a thumbnail, you will open the content page for that image. Click on it again, and it will open a new window that shows the full image.
You may save any image, animation or movie by using your right mouse button and selecting "Save As".
Signing Up
Visitors can become members at no charge by signing up. There are no ongoing membership fees, either. The information required on the sign-up form will not be shared, traded or sold to anyone.
All members must agree to the terms of membership. These terms can be displayed by clicking the membership link on the sign-up page.
Members
Upon login, members can immediately use the "Upload Files" link on their home page. After browsing the site, members must use the "My Profile" link to return to their home page to make additional uploads.
Members can upload files at any time. Each file is subject to editorial review and classification, so files do not appear on the site instantly. Successful uploads generate an automated email to the member. Typically, the review period for a submission is less than 48 hours. If an upload is rejected, an email is sent to explain why.
If a member's file is challenged for any reason, the notice of challenge will appear in the Comments Window, below the content. Challenges are reviewed by the OnScene editorial staff. OnScene attempts to mediate challenges wherever possible. Content found to be plagiarized, illegal, or inappropriate for publication on the Internet will be removed.
File Popularity Ratings
Every file posted within OnScene gets a continuously updated "File Rating" based on how many unique visitors or members have viewed or listened to the content. Repeat accesses to the same file by the same visitor are not counted. Accesses by the creator of a file are not counted.
Etiquette
OnScene.com is a moderated site, controlled by editors. The editors dislike flame wars, bad behavior and rudeness. Consequently, entries in the Comment Window will be monitored. |
